Eligibility Criteria for Indian Forest Service Recruitment 2021 :-

1- Physical Criteria :- As per the physical standards for admission to the Indian Forest Service Examination, the candidates should be physically fit.

Candidates are advised to check the official notification of IFS to check the detailed rules and regulations.


2- Nationality :-

  • Citizen of India,
  • Or the subject of Nepal,
  • Or the subject of Bhutan,
  • Or Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has traveled from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Candidates belonging to categories B, C, D and E should produce a certificate of eligibility, issued by the Government of India.


Centers in India :- 

  • The exam will be conducted in centers in most states of India like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat etc.
  • Applicants should note that except Chennai, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur, there will be a ceiling on the number of candidates allotted to each center.
  • Allocation of centers will be on the basis of “first-applied-first allocation”, and once the capacity of a particular center is attained, the same will be frozen.
  • The main examination will be conducted at centers like Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Dispur (Guwahati), Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur, Port Blair and Shimla.


Educational Qualification :-

  • The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree with at least one subject, such as animal husbandry and veterinary science, botany, chemistry, geology, mathematics, physics, statistics and zoology or agriculture or forestry of a recognized university or equivalent or Bachelor Degree in Engineering. .
  • Candidates can also apply for their degree examination (with prescribed subjects). If they pass on the result of the written part of the examination, they will have to produce proof of passing the required examination along with their detailed application form to be filled at that stage.


Age Limit Details :-

Candidate should have a minimum age of 21 years and maximum of 32 years in the year of examination on August 1, 2020, i.e., he should have been born not earlier than August 2, 1988 and later before August 1, 1999.

While the upper age limit will be relaxed in the following cases


  • For SC / ST (SC / ST): Up to 5 years
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): Up to 3 years
  • Jammu and Kashmir State (domiciled during the period from 1 January 1980 to 31 December 1989: up to 5 years.
  • Defense service personnel: up to 5 years
  • Ex-servicemen including commissioned officers and ECOs / SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years of military service and have been released: Up to 5 years
  • ECO / SSCO: Maximum up to five years.


(Ministry of Defense issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and they will be released on three months notice upon selection from the date of receipt of appointment)


  • Blind, deaf-mute and orthopedically handicapped: up to 10 years.


Cumulative Age relaxation: 

The Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, who are also included in the other sections mentioned above, will be eligible for relaxation in the cumulative age under both categories.
